A. ACCOMMODATION | Room Grades & Rates
Please refer to the schedule on the reservations page. If you would like an upgrade or downgrade, please call at Reception to see if we have rooms available. If you have any concerns with your room, please let the Accommodation Supervisor know.
AA. AIRPORT & AIR SERVICES
You will already know that the Agnes Gateway Hotel is just a three minutes walk from the Munda Airport Terminal. For your departure you need to check-in at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Please don't be late or you may lose your reservation. Flights leave for both Gizo and Honiara usually twice daily and we can check the likely departure time for you.
If you need assistance with your baggage, please ask the Reception Desk well before check-in time.
B. BACKPACKERS ROOMS
Agnes Gateway Hotel has two grades of backpackers accommodation, both with shared bathroom facilities.
Two (2) self-catering rooms with a total of six (6) beds in Lower Zazala Wing
Three (3) non-catering rooms with a total of nine (9) beds in the Orchid Wing.
Accommodation can be booked on a per bed basis where guests are prepared to share the room with others, or booked on a per room basis when the guest (s) wish to have exclusive use of the bedroom.
Munda has one bank, only a short distance from the Lodge.
BSP Bank which has a wide range of banking services including Foreign Exchange and Telegraphic Transfers.
BBB. BAR FACILITIES
Agnes Gateway Hotel has a licensed bar "the Munda Bar" open from mid-morning until about 10pm. Guests are asked to pay cash for their bar drinks although by special arrangement with the Bar Supervisor drinks may be charged to your room accounts.
Friday night is barbeque night and guests are welcome to join our locals for the meal. If however you prefer to have an a-la-carte meal just let the Restaurant Supervisor know.
C. CHECK IN & CHECK OUT TIMES
We will endeavour to get you straight into your room when you arrive, no matter what time that is, or provide you with a spare room while we are getting yours ready. We do not have a Check Out time as we wish you to be able to use your room while you are waiting for your flight to depart. There is no extra charge for a late departure but please complete "Check Outs" about one hour before your flight time.
CC. CREDIT CARDS
We can, under normal circumstances, accept MasterCard and Visa credit cards. On occasions when our EFTPOS machine is inoperative, we need to get prior approval from ANZ Bank in Honiara, and if all telephone contact is lost, we will advise you to make alternative payment arrangements through your bank. We are unable to accept American Express or Diners Club cards.
D. DAY STAY
Guests arriving from other parts of the islands needing a room for the day while waiting for their flight, are very welcome to book a room for the day. Day rates are set at half (50%) of the per night rate.
DD. DIVE MUNDA
We have a colleague's PADI DIVE Shop on site with qualified and registered instructors and dive masters. The dive sites around Munda are reputed to be amongst the best in the Solomons and include coral, sea life and wreck dives. Please call at the Dive Shop for details of dives, gear hire, learner courses, open-water courses, snorkelling.
E. EMAIL SERVICE
The Munda Telekom Office offers an email service to the public. It is open from 8am to 4:30pm with an hour lunchbreak at noon, on Mondays to Fridays. Telekom's charge is $0.80 per minute
In an emergency, please contact the Lodge's Office Supervisor to access our computer system.
GG. GO-WEST TOURS
The Lodge's transport and tours services are operated by Go West Tours. Their office is just inside the entrance gate and is open daily from 7am - 5pm. Call in to see the staff there for any local tours or sightseeing, motorised canoe trips to just about anywhere in New Georgia, scheduled fare services to Gizo, Noro and Ringi Cove, and for paddle canoe hires.
Your room will be serviced daily by our team of friendly housekeepers. Please talk to any of them if you have a request for service, or to the Accommodation Supervisor if you have any concerns.
I. ISLAND STAYS
If you wish to include a day trip to our Hopei Island "just 3km offshore on the outer fringing reef" please contact the Reception Desk. We can also organise for you to have a night away on the island in a self-contained cottage. There is an additional cost for this but you may be able to share the cost with others as there are two bedrooms available for you over on Hopei.
Our housekeepers offer a "next day" laundry service at a cost of $4 per item/ pair. Please note though this is not available for those checking out early on the next day. Ask one of the Housekeeping Staff if you have washing to be done.
LL. LUGGAGE STORAGE
If you are visiting other resorts during your stay in the Western Solomons and are returning to the Lodge before flying out, we will store any "eft luggage" that you wish to leave behind, free of charge.
M. MAIL & MESSAGES
We can arrange to post your letters for you, but please be aware that mail goes out of Munda only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Costs are:
$1.50 per 20g to Solomon Islands destinations
$2.00 - $3.00 per 10g to Pacific countries and other destinations .
Our Restaurant is open from 6.30am continuously until all dinners have been served in the evening, usually by 9pm. Please see the opposite page for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Menus.
The Lodge's office offers a limited photocopying service at $5 per page.
R. RECEPTION DESK
The Reception Desk is open from 7am until the bar and restaurant close at about 10pm.
Our Restaurant is open from very early until very late, and serves meals continuously during the day. Normal opening time is 7am but early breakfasts will be served if requested. Dinner orders are usually taken by our staff in late afternoon and served at a time to suit you usually between 6-8pm. Dinner orders taken late will normally take some time to prepare, so we ask for your patience.
RRR. ROOM SERVICE
Meals can be served in your room at $15 per room serviced but we prefer you to buy your drinks from the bar yourself.
S. SAFE DEPOSIT
We do not have a safe and therefore cannot look after any cash or valuable items. We can keep your passport and other documents in a fire-proof cabinet but ask that you first seal them in an envelope. The Reception Desk will help with this.
V. VILLAGE WALKS
Contact our Reception Desk if you would like a guide to accompany you on a walk through local villages. There will be a charge for this service.
W. WAKE-UP CALLS
Please ask our reception staff if you need to be woken before 7am.
